Celebrity Style Spotlight: Guest Blogger Amanda Castro LOVES Maggie Gyllenhaal's Style

It was during this year’s Oscars that I became a converted fan of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s as a source for sartorial inspiration. The Dries Van Noten dress she wore was a stunning example of the lovely marriage between artful textiles and great design.  There’s emotion in the black brush strokes of the calligraphy, all hanging, frozen in a sea of royal blue and purple. The print seems almost alive, a moving piece of the garment. The choice to leave the last foot or so of the dress blank balances out the weight of the print with the style of dress. In other words, she doesn’t drown in it. All qualities for creating a truly artistic and beautiful image, but on a dress. Not since seeing a Vivienne Westwood retrospect at SF’s De Young museum back in 2007 have I been so moved by a single piece of clothing. In this moment, Maggie Gyllenhaal is the manifestation of modern beauty.

She knows how to embody the drama of the couture and balance it with femininity and a gloss of throwback glamour. Miss G has a style that balances the art of design with contemporary fashion. She is a unique beauty and great talent whose style seems to be naturally progressing. She knows her body well, is not afraid to take risks in volume and color, and knows how to effortlessly seduce you with subtle nudes and pastels. One word and that is, romance.

In this month’s Vanity Fair, I was happy to find another image of Miss G looking oh so fab in a belted fur vest. I thought, wow! This gal makes another appearance in something that completely captures my internal clothing compass. Eager for more, I dug a little deeper...what other images have I been missing? More importantly, what has she been wearing SINCE the Oscars?! Turns out, I have to pay closer attention! There are several moments where Miss G arrives looking fabulous, always encapsulating romance and glamour on a contemporary stage. She has my undivided attention. My vote: keep and eye on her.

Finally back home after a lengthy stay up north of the border, Ashley Tisdale partook in a day of shopping in Malibu, California on Saturday (October 9).

In quite high spirits, the "Aliens In the Attic" actress joined a gal pal as they pair perused the offerings at the local Planet Blue while chatting it up amongst one another.

Tweeting her excitement over being back home, Tizzie wrote, "I'm home!!!!! Yay I'm in LA! Gonna hang with my girl @baileysgirl!"

Meanwhile, you can catch Ashley and her co-stars in an all-new episode of "Hellcats" titled "Ragged Old Flag" when it airs on Wednesday (October 13) at 9/8c on The CW.

A synopsis via the show's website tells: "The girls' volleyball team challenges the Hellcats to a flag-football game. Lewis (Robbie Jones) coaches the Hellcats and Red (Jeff Hephner) is impressed by his plays. Marti (Aly Michalka) pretends to be sick so she can skip the game and attend a conference with Julian (Gale Harold). Alice (Heather Hemmens) wants to cheat to win but Savannah (Ashley Tisdale) refuses, putting the girls at odds once again. Sharon Leal and Matt Barr also star. Kevin Fair directed the episode written by James Eagan."

She's currently well into her first pregnancy, but Miranda Kerr was able to fit in a few stunning photo shoots before welcomingly watching her belly expand.

The Aussie stunner can be seen both in a brand new Victoria's Secret lingerie shoot, as well as a flawless swimwear campaign for Iceberg.

Meanwhile, Miss Kerr's actor beau Orlando Bloom has recently joined her in the ranks of clothing spokesmodels.

The "Three Musketeers" stud signed on with clothing chain Uniqlo - as he appears in a series of ad shots for the Japanese line after being named one of its global brand ambassadors.

Of his employer, Bloom said that "the clothes are comfortable and the texture is great. They are the kind of unpretentious clothes that anyone can wear."

Olsen Twins: LAX Ladies

Finished up with their fashionable visit to France, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were spotted touching down at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Saturday (October 9).

In quite the hurry, the former "Full House" stars rushed through the terminal as they loaded into an awaiting car after the overseas trip for Paris Fashion Week.

The sighting comes just as it's being reported that Ashley's boyfriend Justin Bartha is ready to get down on one knee - which comes after he was spotted shopping for diamond rings.

A source tells Us magazine, "Ashley has always been the more centered of the twins, and Justin is centered, too. They mix well with each other's friends and calm each other."

Katrina Bowden's LIV Birthday Bash

Partaking in a belated birthday bash, Katrina Bowden partied the night away at LIV at The Fontainebleau in Miami, Florida on Friday night (October 8).

The "30 Rock" actress - who turned 22-years-old on September 19 - was joined at the fancy soiree by pal Ben Jorgensen while the event was also held in celebration of Flo Rida's 21st birthday (which was September 17).
